Getting Started - Introduction

 

Power walking is one of the best and safest forms of exercise yet it is also one of the most simple to undertake.

 

"Getting started"  will not be a burden on you or on those around you, it will not break the bank, and is something that most can start TODAY.

Our advice on how to start Power Walking could be as simple as;

However there are some important facts that you should be aware of even when starting to participate in this simple but greatly effective form of exercise.

 

Firstly and always most importantly if you are starting an exercise regime for the first time or starting back after a long lay-off from exercise you should consult your doctor and acknowledge that you are ok and fit to start.

 

Beyond your medical and before stepping out the door to walk, the "Getting Started" check list looks like this

 

1. Invest in correct walking shoes (possibly your ONLY expenditure!)

  • determine what kind of foot you have
  • what to look for in a shoe (suitable for power walking)
  • determine if orthotics are required
  • shop for the appropriate shoe
  • how to care for your shoes
  • how to tie your laces to suit your feet!

 

2. Choose what to wear

3. Other basic equipment
